Involvement of Religious Organizations in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS in Bunia City

This study assesses the degree of faith communities’implication on the fightagainst the
HIV/AIDS pandemic in Bunia Town. This cross-sectional study focused on interview technique.
The data were calculated and analyzed in percentage.The study reveals what follows:
- The religion authorities are not sufficiently involved in the fight against the HIV/AIDS in
their planning activities;
- They do not adhere to programmes fighting against HIV/AIDS in order to come up with
holistic response which complies with Christian ethics
- They do not reinforcecommunity wareness of their believers on the prevention of risks
related to HIV/ AIDS and also voluntary screening.
- They donot improve the referral system of their believers for the voluntary counseling and
testing services and they do not do much on social services on material management, orphans
and vulnerable children and also widows due to HIV/AIDS.
Therefore, churches are invited to beinvolved in the fight against HIV/AIDSyhrough
relevant actions based on the bible and life of Jesus Christ.
